  • What benefits can I claim?
    • There are two types of benefits:
      • the exceptional benefit for retirees
      • the spouse benefit.
    • These are processed at the same time and are subject to conditions, particularly income.
  • Who can receive these benefits?
  • What are the eligibility conditions?
    • Exceptional benefit for retirees:
    • The retiree must:
      • have been engaged in salaried employment in Monaco for at least 10 years
      • receive a retirement pension from the C.A.R. (direct or reversionary) paid on the basis of a minimum of 35 points
      • live in Monaco or in the department of the Alpes-Maritimes.
    • Their household must have an annual income* of less than:
    • € 25,830.00 for a single person
    • € 34,610.00 for married persons.
    • Spouse benefit:
    • The retiree must:
      • be married and normally live in the household with their spouse*
      • receive a direct retirement pension from the C.A.R. paid on the basis of at least 60 points.
    • Their household must have an annual income* of less than € 29,318.40
    • * during the period from 1st October 2022 to 30 September 2023
  • Is there an upper income limit?
    • Yes: all household income* is taken into account when assessing your application. Upper income limits are set at:
      • Exceptional benefit for a single person => € 25,830.00
      • Exceptional benefit for a couple => € 34,610.00
      • Spouse benefit => € 29,318.40
    • * during the period from 1st October2022to 30 September2023
  • Do I have to declare income other than my retirement pensions?
    • Yes: all household income* is taken into account when assessing your application (retirement pensions, income from land, property, salaries, benefits, etc.)

  • How can I obtain an application form?
    • The benefit application form is sent directly to eligible* retirees by post. It is therefore unnecessary to request it if you have never received it.

  • When will I receive the benefit application form?
    • If you are eligible for one of these benefits, the application form will be sent to you during the first two weeks of October.
  • How should I return my benefit application?
    • The benefit application form and all supporting documents must be sent to the C.A.R. Pensions Department:
      • By post: Service Retraite C.A.R. – 11 rue Louis Notari – 98000 MONACOor
      • Via the reception desk: from 8.30 am to 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.00pm throughout October at the following address: Immeuble Flor Office – Rez-de-Chaussée - 10, rue Princesse Florestine
  • What is the deadline to return it?
    • The deadline for return is set at 31 October2023, as evidenced by the date as postmarked.
  • What do I have to provide?
  • When will I be paid? And how?
    • Payment is made in the final quarter of2023 for duly completed applications.
    • It is paid by electronic transfer into your usual bank account.
  • How much are these benefits?
    • Exceptional benefit for retirees:
    • Maximum amount: € 348.00 (if you receive a retirement pension of at least 360 points)
    • The amount that you receive is proportional to your number of points, as long as this is between 35 and 360.
    • Spouse benefit:
    • Maximum amount: € 2,197.04
    • The amount which you will receive is calculated based on:
      • Your number of retirement points (prorata if this is between 60 and 360)
      • Your income
      • The number of months of your shared life (marriage, death...)
      • The effective date of your pension.
  • We are a married couple and both retirees, will we each receive a benefit form?
    • Just one benefit is granted per household based on the highest pension.
  • I have two C.A.R. retirement pensions (one direct and one widow(er)'s pension), will I receive several forms?
    • Just one benefit is granted per household based on the highest pension.
  • My spouse died between 1st October 2022 and 30 September2023, am I still entitled to the spouse benefit?
    • If you received the spouse benefit last year, you can claim it again this year. However, the amount will be calculated on a prorata basis.
  • My spouse is in a nursing home, am I still entitled to the spouse benefit?
    • Yes: when separation between spouses is justified for medical reasons, the condition of a shared life is considered to be fulfilled.
