Changes to the right to a survivor’s pension

Saturday, 1 August 2026
If I am an employee in the private sector or a self-employed person in Monaco:

Law No. 1.595 of 29 June 2026 amended the conditions for entitlement to a survivor’s pension for the surviving spouse in the private sector.

With effect from 1 August 2026, the right to a survivor’s pension will be available to the surviving spouse, regardless of gender:

  • from the age of 50, or
  • upon the death of the spouse if the surviving spouse has at least one dependent child.

This change will be applied by the CAR (basic pension scheme) and, by extension, to the CMRC (supplementary pension scheme for employees) and the CARTI (basic pension scheme for the self-employed).

For further information regarding my pension and the widower’s survivor’s pension, I can visit the dedicated page or contact the Pensions Department of the Caisses Sociales de Monaco :
